About Us

The Electrochemistry Research Group (ERG) at King Saud University is dedicated to advancing the frontier of electrochemical science and technology through pioneering research, rigorous education, and impactful collaborations. Our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where researchers and students are empowered to explore novel electrochemical processes, develop innovative materials. 

We maintain strong collaborative networks with national and international partners to accelerate innovation and facilitate knowledge transfer. Through a commitment to excellence in education, the ERG also plays a pivotal role in training the next generation of electrochemists and cultivating future leaders in academia and industry.

 

Research Themes

  1. Electrocatalysis – Unravelling reaction pathways and engineering catalysts for efficient electrochemical conversions in energy production and chemical synthesis

  2. Biosensors – Designing and optimizing electrochemical biosensing platforms for high-sensitivity detection of biomarkers, pathogens, and environmental contaminants

  3. Electrodeposition and Electrosynthesis – Developing new methods for the deposition and electrochemical synthesis of functional materials with tailored properties

  4. Corrosion– Investigating corrosion mechanisms and developing advanced protective strategies for metals and alloys in diverse environments

  5. Energy Production and Storage– Addressing critical energy challenges through cutting-edge research on Hydrogen fuel, and supercapacitors

  6. Photoelectrochemistry and Water Splitting– Harnessing solar energy to drive electrochemical reactions for clean hydrogen production and related sustainable technologies

  7. Nanomaterials Electrochemistry – Synthesizing and characterizing nanomaterials for enhanced electrochemical performance and novel device applications
